According to the Texas Department of Transportation someone dies in a motor vehicle accident every 3 hours. In 2009 there were 3,089 recorded deaths. You may have noticed crosses along a street or highway marking the location of a crash resulting in a fatality. This photo series is a study of those crosses.
Every cross that I have stumbled upon is different from the last. Each cross is unique in respect to - age, condition, media, color, size, location and story, but all share the symbolic cross. With this continually progressing photo series I hope to document as many of these roadside crosses as possible.
